Thì hiện tại đơn là 1 trong 12 thì cơ bản và đây là một trong những kiến thức đầu tiên khi bắt đầu chinh phục một ngôn ngữ mới. Thì hiện tại đơn: Lý thuyết cơ bản và cách chia động từ

Định nghĩa thì hiện tại đơn (Simple Present tense):

Thì hiện tại đơn là thì được dùng để diễn tả một sự thật hiển nhiên, một sự việc hay một hành động diễn ra và lặp lại liên tục theo thói quen, phong tục, khả năng diễn ra ở thời điểm hiện tại.

Công thức:

Cách dùng: Thì hiện tại đơn được sử dụng tuỳ vào trường hợp và hoàn cảnh dưới đây:

  • Khi dùng để diễn tả một sự việc, hành động hay thói quen thường xuyên được lặp đi lặp lại.

Ví dụ:

My sister always goes to bed at 11 p.m

(Chị gái của tôi luôn đi ngủ vào lúc 11 giờ đêm)

I play to baseball every afternoon

(Tôi chơi bóng chày mỗi buổi chiều).

  • Dùng để diễn tả một chân lý, sự thật hiển nhiên

Ví dụ:

The Earth goes around the Sun

(Trái đất quay quanh Mặt Trời)

  • Diễn tả trạng thái, cảm xúc, cảm giác

Ví dụ:

I think that your girlfriend is a good person

(Tôi nghĩ bạn gái của cậu là một người tốt)

He feels very bored

(Anh ấy cảm thấy rất nhàm chán)

  • Diễn tả một sự việc, hoạt động xảy ra theo thời gian biểu cụ thể

Ví dụ:

The flight starts at 8 a.m

(Chuyến bay sẽ khởi hành lúc 8 giờ sáng)

Dấu hiệu nhận biết:

Thì hiện tại đơn trong câu rất dễ dàng nhận biết.

  • Khi xuất hiện những trạng từ chỉ tần suất như: Always (luôn luôn), usually (thường), often (cũng có nghĩa là thường nhưng tần suất ít hơn usually), sometimes (thỉnh thoảng), rarely (hiếm khi), seldom (rất hiếm), never (không bao giờ), every day, every week, every month, once a week, once a month,….

  • Những trạng từ chỉ tần suất này thường đứng trước những động từ thường, đứng sau trợ động từ và động từ to be trong câu.

Ví dụ:

We always go to the beach on holidays

(Chúng tôi luôn đi biển vào những ngày lễ).

She goes shopping three times a month

(Cô ấy đi mua sắm 3 lần mỗi tháng).
